Tell us the things you love about your town/city
There are really so many things I love about Garner! Garner picked us, not the other way around! When we moved here I knew nothing about NC, we were blessed to find this home in this town. It is convenient to all Raleigh has to offer, RDU, Shopping, Schools, Parks, Walking trails, Restaurants, RTP, Places of worship, highways etc.
Tell us something about your specific neighborhood/community
We are close to two parks and walking trails: Lake Benson Park and White Deer. Our neighborhood has sidewalks which gives us safe access to the parks mentioned above. It is a quiet neighborhood with plenty of friendly and helpful neighbors.
What grocery stores and other conveniences are close to your home?
We have Lowes, Aldi, and Food Lion just down the road in either direction. We are up the road from a Home Depot, banks are everywhere, White Oak shopping center is also convenient!
Are there any annual events you look forward to attending each year?
Yes there are events at the Lake Benson & White Deer parks; Easter Egg Hunt, 4th of July, Ground Hog Day. In the historic downtown there are parades.
What do your monthly utility bills typically look like?
Yearly figure for each: HOA $360, Gas $192, Electric $2067, Water $447
I fell in love with our home and knew the moment I crossed it's threshold this was IT!! We moved from NY, left all our family and friends, this home just felt so inviting. We had seen many other homes, somewhere between 25 and 50!?! The basement was one of the BIG appeals, coming from the North, basements are the norm not the exception, it was a real draw, especially for Hubby who wanted a place for all his memorabilia and workout equipment. The open floor plan was another thing that really attracted me; open kitchen area with breakfast area, and the keeping area which is where we spend our time as a family. The custom made cabinetry, and beautiful marble counters etc. All the bedrooms on the same level is nice, especially since our daughter was only 4 when we initially moved in. The fact that it is hardwoods all throughout, no carpeting. We love the spaciousness, the ample storage and were particularly drawn to the room for expansion because we had hoped to increase our family size. Plenty of room for visitors, too. It's a private lot, the neighbors behind are hidden by nice "forest" of trees. The fact that we are on a cul de sac is nice as well.
